Biography

Hakeem Martins is a Minneapolis-based photographer and visual artist whose work blends photography, poetry, and storytelling to explore themes of identity, heritage. Drawing inspiration from his Nigerian roots and personal experiences as a first-generation Nigerian-American, Hakeem uses his lens to examine memory, lineage, and the shared narratives that connect communities across borders.

Beyond his artistic practice, Hakeem has experience in community engagement, event curation, and project management, skills he carries into every creative endeavor. His work has been featured in Sahan Journal and supported through residencies like Studio Apparatus, where he continues to expand his practice and explore new forms of visual storytelling.
